How To Keep Your Baby Warm
As the winter months approach, parents of newborns may be concerned about how to dress their little ones in cold weather. It's important to keep newborns warm, but not too warm, to prevent overheating. When dressing a baby for winter, layering is key. A winter bodysuit can provide an extra layer of warmth, and a stroller blanket can keep baby cozy while on-the-go. Remember to always check your baby's temperature and adjust layers accordingly. By following these tips, you can ensure that your baby stays bundled up and warm during cold days this winter.

Ideal Room Temperature for Winter Newborns
Maintaining the right temperature is key for a comfortable and safe winter sleeping environment for your newborn. Aim for a temperature between 18-22°C, and consider using a heating system to achieve this. If you don't have a heater, there are alternative ways to keep your baby warm, such as layering their clothing and using a winter bodysuit or stroller blanket. It's important to avoid overheating, so monitor your baby's temperature regularly and adjust layers as needed. By following these tips, you can ensure that your baby stays cozy and warm during the colder months.

Creating a Warm Winter Environment with Rugs
To keep your baby's room warm during the colder months, consider using a rug under the crib or cot. This is particularly important for nurseries without carpeting, as rugs can provide an additional layer of insulation to trap cool air and prevent it from entering the room. Moreover, a rug can complement any nursery design and add coziness to the space. If a rug is not available, you can use a 100% cotton playmat under the crib for the same effect

Natural fibers allow the baby's skin to breathe and regulate their temperature naturally during the colder months.
Choosing Natural Fibers for Your Baby's Winter Nursery
Natural fibers such as cotton, bamboo, and wool are great options for winter clothing and bedding for newborns. These materials allow the baby's skin to breathe and regulate their temperature naturally. Choosing clothing made from natural fibers like cotton, with a warm and soft texture, can keep your baby cozy and comfortable during the colder months. Additionally, using 100% cotton fitted crib sheets will help to keep baby warm. Try a Snuggly Jacks Crib Quilt which is made from 100% cotton and acts as that final much needed barrier between baby and the outside elements.

The more layers the better.
Instead of putting baby in one super warm outfit try dressing in layers. The last thing we want to do is overheat baby or not have baby warm enough. Layers allow you to have control over the temperature of your baby, taking layers off or adding layers as required to reach their optimal body temperature. To check their temperature, place your hand on their chest. If it is hot to touch, or they seem clammy they are overheating. If they are cool to the touch, they are too cold, and you need to add more layers. Make each layer light. Preferably items made from high levels of cotton and make them items that are easy to add or remove.

Keep baby comfortable.
Winter can be harsh on baby's delicate skin, causing it to dry out quickly. It's important to keep baby comfortable by moisturizing their skin daily with a gentle, unscented lotion. This will help prevent any type of rash caused by dry skin, and keep baby's skin soft and smooth.
Aim for a temperature between 18-22°C
Another important consideration is keeping the nursery at a comfortable temperature. It's easy to forget to close all windows and doors in the winter, which can lead to cold air seeping into the room. Make sure to keep all windows covered with curtains at night to keep the cool air out and maintain a warm, cozy environment for baby.
